Free flatbreads for climate action!

In light of the utterly frightening IPCC report on the continued acceleration of the climate crisis, we at Tang have decided to now move into supporting climate activism!

Reading the coverage of the report can make you feel so helpless, it certainly did for us. The fires burning across the globe at the moment really bring the urgency of whole situation home too. But as it says in the report, it’s not to late and acting now can make a difference!

Reducing our own carbon footprint is critical but it’s not enough anymore.  We need the systems to change too, and urgently.

That is why we are offering a free flatbread for every email sent to a TD, MEP or local representative demanding urgent climate action!

What you get – a free flatbread

What you need to do - Email your TD, MEP or local representative using the template on our website or any variation of this, show us a copy of this in either of our cafes to redeem your free flatbread!

Template letter from our friends at The UseLESS project

Dear [Name of your TD],

I am writing to you as a constituent of [your constituency] because I am gravely concerned about the climate emergency.

I am particularly concerned after the latest IPCC report that called changes to the climate “unprecedented”, added that it is “unequivocal” that humans are to blame.

The climate and future of the planet are in crisis and we have so very little time to turn things around.

I have never seen such stark evidence of climate change as during this summer. Heatwaves, flooding, forest fires and sandstorms happening on every corner of the globe and all at once. Global heating is affecting every region on Earth, with many of the changes becoming irreversible.

We are reaching a point of no return. Drastic climate action must be top of the agenda if we are to have any future. The Irish government must put an end to fossil fuels and make accessible a complete move to renewable energy. The government has an obligation to present a fair and just transition for those working in carbon heavy industries.

2021 is the most important year in history for the future of our planet - and our country. We already have a legally binding target to reach net zero emissions. If that commitment is underlined by action in the next year we have an opportunity to be leaders in the clean, green energy revolution.

Finally I ask, what are you, as my TD doing to secure my future and the future of this planet?

I look forward to hearing

Yours sincerely,

[your name]
