Ukraine Fundraiser - 31.3.2022

Like everyone we are deeply saddened by so much of what we have been watching in Ukraine since February 24th but at the same time hugely inspired by the bravery and strength of the Ukrainian people and their leaders.

We don’t have any Ukrainian nationals on our team at the moment and have no direct ties to the country, although hopefully that will change as more of their people arrive here over the coming months, and we very much look forward to offering displaced hospitality professionals employment.

From early on in this conflict we knew we wanted to do something but having joined the Effective Altruism Ireland network this year I wanted to spend a little bit of time researching where best to direct funds we raised.

We have decided to donate all funds raised this coming Thursday to the National Bank of Ukraine.

Previously we would have always held fundraisers like this on a Friday but Thursday has become our busiest day of the week post pandemic and so wanting to raise as much as possible for Ukraine, Thursday is the day this time.

We chose the National Bank of Ukraine because it is the central bank of Ukraine – a government body responsible for unified state policy in the field of country's monetary circulation.

We have been so impressed with their governments leadership that we felt give money directly to them was the most effective thing to do right now.

The National bank has separate funds set up to support the armed forces defending the country as well as humanitarian needs for the devastated citizens still on the ground inside the country.

So this Thursday all of our sales and any tips received will be donated directly to the National Bank of Ukraine.

We’ve a few surprises up our sleeves too :) namely Ukrainian Borscht soup and a Ukrainian walnut & date bite “free” to anyone who leaves a tip :)

Look forward to seeing you Thursday and can’t wait to spend the day showing solidarity with the Ukrainian people.
